The European Poker Tour Prague 2010 tournament started at noon today in the Hilton Hotel and Casino of the capital of Czech Republic. This event is the last stop of the EPT circuit in 2010.
191 players took their seats in the poker room to start action on Day 1A and paid the 5,000€ buy-in.
Three members of Team Titan were among the starters today: Sorel Mizzi, Marvin Rettenmaier, and Yann Brosolo.

Efforts by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) to legalize online poker in the United States may have run their course. A tax cut bill prepared for the lame duck Congress does not include the proposed legislation due to expected opposition by the Republican Party.
Critics say Reid was acting on behalf of Las Vegas-based casino operators who helped finance his recent reelection campaign. While efforts to legalize online poker on the federal level may be folding, New Jersey and California are moving on their own and may regulate online poker very soon.

Mike Matusow is obviously an excellent tournament player with a highly enviable record. But… it could have been even better if not for his well-publicized tendency to blow up. Although at a far lower level, I’ve always struggled with a similar leak. I play decently enough until the middle or late stages of a tournament, then cancel out the time I’ve spent building and maintaining my stack by putting far more chips into a pot than I should.
I believe I’ve managed to reduce the frequency, but it still happens too often. Pot control? What’s that? My answer is that it’s a concept I sometimes fail to remember to apply.

Team Titan captain Sorel Mizzi has finished in the top ten places at his last two World Poker Tour events, but in both cases, he just missed appearing at the televised Final Table.
Competing in the Five Diamond World Poker Classic this week at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Sorel was eliminated in ninth place by the current chipleader, Vanessa Rousso. He won $59,123.

Team Titan captain Sorel Mizzi is currently ranked in 14th place in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic Main Event taking place at the Bellagio Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.
Buy-ins at the tournament were $10,000+$300, and first prize is guaranteed $870,124. 54 players, all of them in the money, will resume action in Day 4 play later today.

During the past week, I seemed to run into more situations than usual where individuals at my tables said things that indicated they have highly inflated impressions of themselves and their poker skills. As I said previously, I play at small and micro-stakes. There are certainly people at those levels who are better than I am. However, I can’t think of anyone who is good enough to belittle the play of others.
It’s especially so when the person who talks in this manner is someone I’ve noted as a fish. This doesn’t happen “all the time”, but neither is it all that uncommon an occurrence. What I have considerable difficulty understanding is what drives them to exhibit such behavior. What do they think they gain?
