Here is the situation: we’re playing the last level of the day, with blinds of 300-600 and a running ante of 75.
72 players are still in, and the table nine has just been broken.
Usually, it’s during this level that we see all the suck-out, blow-up, bad-beat, and all the poker expressions in two words, with a “-” inside.
And we know why: players short-stacked don’t want to come-back tomorrow with a few chips, so they try to double-up before the end of the day… sometime it works, sometimes not, but anyway it gives a lot of animation at the tables.
From my place in the press area, I can see all the eliminated players leave the poker-room, each one with the same expression on their face: deception. Sometimes, one on them come and sit next to me, and explain how horrible was the last hand. But all these qualifiers will remember one thing: the great experience they took during this ECPokerTour.
Actually, most of them are used to play poker on the internet, and they didn’t had tested poker in live before this tournament. And they all have the same words: “It’s definitively not the same thing, they say, in poker live, there is a lot of feelings that you don’t have online. That’s a great experience, I’ll be back”
I just talked to my friend Jean-Luc Dutto, and unfortunately, I have to announce that he’s been eliminated.
A guess what ? It’s a bad beat, for sure: Jean-Luc 3-bet all-in before the flop, his opponent make the call with 8-8.
Jean-Luc is far ahead with his pocket queens, but of course, his opponent hit a 8 on the turn… Good game buddy, I’m sure we’ll see you again on the circuit !
