Florian Desgouttes and Marvin Rettenmaier

Two players from Team Titan returned to compete on Day 2 of the European Poker Tour’s Prague event. French player Florian Desgouttes is short-stacked with 20.3K and  German player Marvin Rettenmaier has 63.5K when the average chipstack is 66.5K.

The 254 survivors from the two qualifying Day 1 starts came back at 12:00 to take their seats in the poker room of the Hilton Hotel Casino for a new day of poker (6 levels of 75 minutes). 80 players will be paid in this event in the Czech Republic.

Level 10 – Blinds 600-1200 Ante 100 -

Florian Desgouttes moved all-in three times during this first level of Day 2. The first two times he didn’t find any callers and just took the blinds. The third time, everybody folded until the player on the small blind who pushed all his chips to the middle. Florian Desgouttes called and was covered by his opponent.

The hands:

Player in small blind: A♦6♥
Florian Desgouttes: A♠K♠

Board: 2-K-A-K-5 and Florian Desgouttes doubled to reach 42K.

Marvin Rettenmaier raised 3 times preflop at the beginning of the level and had to give up after his opponents had 3-bet him. He lost around 9K.

He lost a big pot but we don’t have the details but was down to 30K approximately when he found the good spot and doubled up. UTg+1 player bet 2700 and Marvin raised to 6.8 K in middle position. The small blind moved all-in for 25K. The UTG+1 player folded and the two players showed their hands:

Marvin Rettenmaier: A♣ K♠
Small Blind: J♦ J♣

Board: K♥ 3♦ 4♦ 5♦ Q♣

Marvin Rettenmaier won the pot and finally finished the level with 56K. Florian Desgouttes stole a pot preflop and had 44K.

Level 11 – 800/1600 Ante 200 -

First hand, Florian raised to 3200 and Tobby Lewis moved all-in from the small blind. Florian thought for a few seconds before giving up his A♣7♣.

After 30 minutes in this level, Florian was sitting behind a stack of 35K when the average is 82.4K.

At the end of the level, a player raised to 4.2 K in middle position. Florian Desgouttes shoved for 29K and the small blind made the call. The first raiser folded and we saw the hands:

Desgouttes: 10♣ 10♥
Small blind: 7♣ 7♦

No 10 and no 7 on the flop and Florian Desgouttes picked up all the chips (60.7K).

Marvin Rettenmaier eliminated a short stack with K-Q against A-9 for a 40K pot. A king came on the river and Marvin is up to 76K.

A few minutes later, Marvin Rettenmaier raised to 3700 and the button called.

Flop: Q♠ 4♦ 10♣
Both player checked.

No action on turn as well, the A♦

Finally, on the river 4♠, Rettenmaier bet 8.2 K and his opponent folded.

He 3-bet a player just before the break and finished the level with 100K.

Average: 90K.

Level 12 – Blinds 1000/2000 Ante 200 -

Florian Desgouttes couldn’t play for awhile because there was too much action before him to enter into the  hands. He took the blinds once pushing all-in with A-Q. Florian had 52K at that precise moment when the average was 106K with 158 players left.

Then, a player bet 5K under the gun and Florian Desgouttes moved all-in with Q♦Q♣ on the button. The small blind imitated him and the UTG player folded.

Flop: 2-3-5-5-4

Florian Desgouttes is back a little below the average with 94K. The average is 110K.

Marvin called an all-in preflop short stack for 10K with AK against 9-9. Nothing came to help Marvin who lost the pot and dropped to 89K.

Then, just before the end of the level, the player at the cut-off moved all-in for 50K and Marvin Rettenmaier thought for about 2 minutes before putting all his chips in the middle for 89K. The small blind announced all-in at his turn as well.

Hands:

Cut-off player: K♥Q♥
Marvin Rettenmaier: A♦10♥
Small blind: K♣K♦

The flop is cruel tp the German member of Team Titan: A♣ 10♦ J♠ giving him two pairs but the straight to the CO player. Turn 3♦ and river 9♣ didn’t change anything and Marvin Rettenmaier is down to 38K when the average is 110K.

Level 13 – Blinds 1200/2400 Ante 200 -

Marvin Rettenmaier is really short-stacked with 29K and moved all-in with A-Q. The French player next to him, Nori Labussière, made the call with A-K but the first card of the flop was a Q and Marvin doubled to 63K.

A few hands later Marvin Rettemaier raised to 7.2 K under the gun +2 with A♦K♠. The cut-off player went all-in over the top with A♣K♥ and the big blind player (short-stacked with 30K) called.

Board: 10♣4♥Q♣10♠7♣

Marvin Rettenmaier is down to 28K when the average is 125K.

Level 14 – Blinds 1500/3000 Ante 300 – Average 120 K.

Florian Desgouttes paid an all-in preflop with pocket Kings and was unfortunately in front of the Aces of his opponent.
He lost the cruel hand and is down to 22K when he played his last hand. He moved all-in after a raise and his opponent made the call with  Q-Q. Florian had 4♥4♦.

One more time the board is really frustrating: 4-Q-3-7-J giving both players a set.

Florian Desgouttes is eliminated after a great tournament here in EPT Prague. We hope he has more luck next time! He finished in 139th position.

Level 14 was really not a good one for the two remaining members of Team Titan. Indeed, Marvin Rettenmaier was eliminated half an hour after Florian.

Marvin Rettenmaier opened the first card and saw an Ace and decided to push all-in (25K) without looking the second one. The big blind called with J-J.

A3 for Marvin.

Board (also crazy): A-K-J-A-6

Marvin Rettenmaier left the tournament in 120th position.
