Gerhard Onken
Gerhard Onken flew in from Berlin to Dublin to participate in the Irish Winter Festival. This would be the German Titan Player’s first big offline tournament. Onken is a big fan of Phil Ivey and he himself plans on becoming a great poker player. He had aimed to make it through to Day 2 in Dublin and this goal was accomplished. It seems that his experience from offline play in German Poker had paid off. He usually plays in smaller tournaments of 60-80 players.
“On the first day of play, there were many players that were not so good, however the players on Day 2 were on a different level”, said Onken. “The quality of the players here in Dublin is different to what I am used to in Germany and so is the atmosphere.” He was very happy with the way he played even though he did not make it through until dinner. Gerhard Onken found it extremely difficult to stay focused for the long hours. “The long hours made it difficult for me to make big decisions. I found myself playing tighter than I usually do”, he remarked.
He joined Titan Poker a year ago when he saw an advertisement on the internet. “All in all I have been playing for 3 years and I moved to Titan due to the amount of satellites and I found that the graphics were also very suitable for me”, he added. Onken also finds the online chat to be a useful feature for players. He tends to play $3-$10 tournaments and enjoys the multiple promotions that Titan Poker has to offer.
