Gunnar Frantzen, the Norwegian player started out his day at the Irish Winter Festival, sitting at the televised table with one other Titan, Leon de Rouw. Gunnar almost managed to see through the first day, however his luck seemed to run out after quite a good run. “I’ll definitely be back” he told us when we found him having a chat with fellow Titan player Ric Schouten in the bar at 11PM.
“I was extremely nervous at the televised table – I could feel my heart pumping” he laughed. “I did manage to relax a little bit after winning the first two hands and my stack size did grow to 20,000 in the first 5 minutes”.
After Gunnar switched tables with the rest of the players that he was with his stack size was reduced to 12,000. At the time, the size of the pot would rarely go over 5,000 chips and the players continued to play cautiously. “I felt that I was not playing my game as I too was playing too tightly” Gunnar remarked. He went into the dinner break with 15,025 chips.
“I won my first hand after dinner with Triple Queens and raised my stack by 5,000. Then I found myself at the dealer button where I was raised 1,200. I called. An aggressive Irish player was at Big Blind and raised 3,500 and that was called by the veteran at the table who had initially raised by 1,200.
I stepped up the pace and raised 10,000 which led the aggressor to go all in. This was followed by the veteran and myself calling. Fate had it that the flop came out blank for all but the aggressive player– it was a King on the River. My Aces and the veteran’s Jacks were not enough to stop the 58,000 pot from moving into the Irishman’s hands”, said Gunnar with a shrug of the shoulders and a smile on his face.
Gunnar continued to praise Titan Poker and the tournament organizers for the special experience. “Everything has been beyond perfect. From the organization of the VIP support to the hotel – it has been a dream. I know that my friends from other poker rooms will definitely move to Titan Poker once I have finished telling them all about this”, he told us. “You will be seeing me at the Mongolian BBQ for the Titan players on Monday” he laughed.
