The recently completed Main Event of the European Poker Tour London 2010, with 848 players, was the largest poker tournament ever held in the United Kingdom.  The EPT tournament came right in the wake of the equally successful World Series of Poker Europe.

As reported here, the Main Event was won by 23-year-old Scottish player David Vamplew, who defeated renowned poker professional John Juanda and took first prize of £900,000.

“It’s going to take a while to sink in. I had to get lucky to win. I won a few all-ins but I’m pretty proud of the way I played. I’m pleased with myself for sure,” Vamplew said after his victory, which puts him as the all-time leading poker tournament money winner from Scotland.

Argentine player Jose “Nacho” Barbero won the £20,000 buy-in EPT London High Roller Event, after defeating a field of 77 players, including Team Titan members Sorel Mizzi and Sam Trickett, to take home the £556,000 first place prize.
