Taking a break from the 2011 World Series of Poker tournaments, where he has managed to cash out twice so far, Team Titan’s Marvin Rettenmaier headed across town to the Golden Nugget to play the Main Event of its 2011 Grand Poker Series.

Marvin succeeded in defeating a field of some 250 players in the $1080 two-day event and won first prize of $55,000. He even received a bracelet to mark the victory.

As Marvin posted in his own words, “BOOOM!!!! VICTORY!!!! Won the Golden Nugget Main after an intense 3-4h heads-up battle with the last German bracelet winner Jörg Peisert… “

“Was grinding so hard with aggro Faraz Jaka to my left all day – but luckily i had position on him on the final table… was below avg till ft, then 1010 vs jj battle of the blinds and then started a sick comeback…won a bracelet as well…lol,” Marvin posted.

Marvin has cashed out twice at this year’s WSOP, finishing 21st in the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em – Six Handed tournament for a prize of $15,552, and 40th in the $2,500 No Limit Hold’em event for a prize of $15,148. He also had a good finish in the Deep Stack Extravaganza III at the Venetian, finishing 12th for a prize of $10,478.

The Grand Poker Series at the Golden Nugget is an annual event that features more than 200 poker tournaments at the hotel’s luxurious events center, The Grand. Many of the events have low buy-ins, so that every player and every bank roll can compete for Las Vegas poker glory.
