Playing in his second Aussie Millions high roller event this week, Team Titan member Sam Trickett finished in second place for a prize of $1,400,000 AUD. In a field that attracted some of the top and richest poker players in the world, Sam went into heads-up play against Erik Seidel ahead in chips, but Erik turned the tables around.

The tournament was the highest buy-in event ever staged and attracted 20 players for a total prize pool of $5,000,000. Sam’s second place finish raised his winnings for the week to $2,925,000.

In the final hand of the tournament, Sam was holding AQ against Erik’s J9. The flop showed 953, giving Erik top pair. But neither the turn nor the river brought what Sam needed and he was out in second place.

David Benyamine finished in third place in the event for a prize of $1,100,000 AUD when his A6 fell to Sam’s A4 as another 4 appeared on the river.

The 2011 Aussie Millions announced this week that they were planning to stage this $250,000 buy-in event, a high roller event that made the $100,000 Challenge look like an amateur event by comparison.

The twenty entries to this event included many of the top poker players in the world, including Chris Ferguson, Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, David Benyamine, John Juanda, Annette Obrestad, and Tony Bloom.
