Sam Trickett Wins British Best Cash Player Award

Trickett, who won the Best New Player Award at last year’s inaugural British Poker Award ceremony, was also nominated in the categories of Best Tournament Player and Best Social Media User.

The award winners were selected by online voters. British stand-up comedian Lucy Porter announced the award ceremony, which included a charity auction to raise money for the Peace and Sport organization.

Sam just returned to England after playing cash games in Macau. He had skipped attending the popular EPT Barcelona tournament in order to return to the high stakes cash game action which he preferred. In a January interview with Bluff Europe Magazine Trickett told of his successful bluffs during an extremely profitable session in Macau.

According to details revealed in that interview, Trickett was involved with Tom Dwan in some high stakes action with very rich Chinese businessmen. Sam “ended up winning about a million pounds over two sessions”. In one hand, Sam was bluffing “all-in for 2,000,000 HKD (£160,000)” and his Chinese opponent folded to his relief.

Trickett has also demonstrated his skillful tournament play this year by winning the Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge and by finishing in second place in the Aussie Millions $250,000 Super High Roller. However, the Best Tournament Player Award went to Poker Triple Crown winner Jake Cody.

Sam promises to devote some time this month to online poker play at Titan Poker, where along with Team Titan colleague Marvin Rettenmaier, he will play cash tables and tournaments during Sam & Marvin’s Playground, part of the online poker room’s 6 Year Anniversary celebrations.
