Team Titan captain Sorel Mizzi is currently ranked in 14th place in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic Main Event taking place at the Bellagio Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.

Buy-ins at the tournament were $10,000+$300, and first prize is guaranteed $870,124. 54 players, all of them in the money, will resume action in Day 4 play later today.

At the end of Day 3, Antonio Esfandiari is the chipleader at this well-known stop on the World Poker Tour tournament circuit. Esfandiari has a stack of 1,082,500, well ahead of second place’s Doug Lee, who has 702,500 in chips. Currently in third place is Vanessa Rousso with 694,000.

Sorel Mizzi is currently in 14th place with 436,500, ranked just behind poker legend Doyle Brunson, who has 446,000.

Mizzi found himself in action on Day 2 with Phil Hellmuth.

As reported on the WPT website:

Phil Hellmuth spent an extra-long amount of time in the tank when Sorel Mizzi bet the board of A♣ Q♠ 5♣ 4♥ K♦ . Hellmuth would eventually fold to Mizzi’s bet. Hellmuth got a small bit of revenge on the next hand, attacking Mizzi’s big blind by raising with 5♠ 4♥ , and betting the flop and the turn with four diamonds on the board and none in his hand. Mizzi folded on the turn, and Hellmuth showed his cards and said, “If I can’t get in through the door, I’ll come in through the window.” Sorel, however, won the war, busting Hellmuth a short while later and finishing the day ranked sixth in chips. It’s unconfirmed whether Hellmuth left the tournament room thru the door or the window.
