Jonathan Duhamel, a 23-year-old from Boucherville, Quebec , overpowered his opponent from Florida, John Racener, in Heads-Up play that lasted 43 hands to win the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event, the WSOP gold bracelet and $8,944,310 in cash.

The tournament, which started back on July 5 with 7,319 players, came to its stunning conclusion when Duhamel’s unsuited Ace-Jack held up against Racener’s K-8 in Diamonds.

“It’s a dream come true for me,” Duhamel told the media after his win. “I’ve dreamed about it since I started playing poker six years ago. It’s amazing.”

Racener’s second place finish was worth $5,545,955. Racener went into the Heads-Up play at a huge disadvantage and never saw a real opportunity to gain on Duhamel.

“I could never get anything going,” said Racener, 24, of Port Richey, Florida. “It was unfortunate and he played it well,” he told the media.

Duhamel and Racener were the final two players from the November Nine, the nine players who resumed play at the WSOP Final Table on November 6.

Duhamel is the first Canadian player ever to win the Main Event and only the sixth non-American overall.

Titan Press: What are your expectations for tomorrow
Sam Trickett: If i don’t finish in the top 3, I would be very disappointed. I estimate that I have a 50% chance of winning the tournament, even though I’m aware that it will be long and tough.

Titan Press: Who do you fear the most in this final table ?
Sam Trickett: I really respect my two compatriots Toby (Lewis) and Teddy (Sheringham). The first is a friend of mine from London and a really good poker player and Teddy is just my biggest idol ever and a solid and talented poker player.

Titan Press: Any strategy for tomorrow ?
Sam Trickett: Not in particular. I will play my game; it’s working good for me the last months; so no reason to change. As i said, I really respect Toby and Teddy and they have a lot of chips as well. So, i will avoid risking too much against them. But we never know. I’ve started getting used to playing final tables of big tournaments, and I feel confident.

Titan Press: Thank you very much and we wish you a good night and a lot of good cards tomorrow.
Sam Trickett: Thank you. I will do my best, but first I’m off to relax at my hotel. Goodbye.

Congratulations to Titan Poker team member, Marvin Rettenmaier from Germany, who made it to 3rd place at the Partouche Poker Million in Spain.

At the beautiful Casino Grand Madrid, Marvin battled a tough field of players who all wanted a piece of the one million Euros prize pool.

Marvin gave a wonderful performance but busted out when he went all-in with 99 against 66 pre-flop. The flop came out K36 and the turn and river produced no miracles for him.

Marvin took home 31,000 Euros and a lot of prestige.
