November 16th, 2009 by admin

After a set of bet-3-bet, John van de Bruggen went all-in before the flop. Manuel Thiede tanks one minute and folds, while Bo Sehlstedt insta-call with Ace-Queen.

John is far behind with Ace-Ten.

The flop 8-K-2 gives a flush draw to Bo, who is definitively ahead.

Turn: Jack.

Only a Queen can save John.

River: Queen.

It’s done, John doubles up with this magic river, and counts 390,000 chips. Read More »

Play Resumes, And We Are Down to Five

November 15th, 2009 by admin

The final six are back at the table, and the cards are back in the air.

Blinds are 4,000-8,000, ante 1,000, and the two chip leaders of the table are involved in a huge pot:

Bo Sehlstedt raises before the flop, and Mitja Potocin re-raises, to which Bo announces “all-in” for a massive 284,000 chips more.

Mitja tanks less than a minute later, with the call of Ace-King.

Now it’s a race as Bo shows Q-Q.

The board shows 10-J-6-8-10 and Bo Sehlstedt takes half of the chips of the tournament. He is now the massive chip leader with more than 660,000 chips.

Mitja Potocin, on the other hand,  is crippled to 30,000 chips.

A few hands later, Mitja goes all-in with 7-4 and Manuel Thiede calls with 7-7.  And with that Mitja is eliminated in 6th place (€11,700 ).

John Doubles Up

November 15th, 2009 by admin

A few minutes before the end of level 17, Mitja Potocin raises before the flop with A-Q, while John van de Bruggen goes over the top for a total of 92,000 chips, with A-K.

Mitja then takes the option and calls the all-in.

The flop is K-10-2 and gives top pair to John, and a gutshot to his opponent.

The next turn is an inoffensive 10. The river is a Queen.

John van de Bruggen doubles up to 190,000 chips.

Blinds are now 3,000-6,000 ante 600, and the average is 185,700 chips.

Sorel Mizzi Back In Business

Blinds are still 2,000-4,000 with a running ante of 400, and Sorel Mizzi is all-in, quickly called by John van de Bruggen with pocket nines.

Mizzi is in trouble with A-8, but hits a flush on the board, allowing him to double up to more than 130,000 chips.

Mizzi is back in business. Watch out  guys! Read More »

Our eight finalists are seated at the featured table. Play resumes at 4:30 pm.

Small problems with my internet connection drove me temporarily insane, transforming me into a very dangerous (hairy) beast.  Thankfully that’s been resolved and I can work, (and have finally released the poor technical person in charge of internet connectivity here).

Anyhow, remember the old computer game “Wolfenstein”? You know, the very first one, I think I was twelve-years old when I played. .. Read More »
