Scottish poker player David Vamplew won the EPT PokerStars.com London 2010 Main Event following 4 hours of heads-up play with John Juanda.

After having busted his toughest adversary of the Final Table (Kyle Bowker) in 3rd position with luck, American poker professional John Juanda started the final heads-up with a big advantage in chips (19.6 millions chips vs 5.6 millions for David Vamplew).

It is true that John Juanda got really lucky on the hand against Bowker. Indeed, the 2 players went all-in preflop and Bowker was ahead with his J♥J♠ against 10♣10♥. But the flop came 5♣Q♣2♣3♣8♣ and Juanda eliminated Bowker with a higher flush.

John Juanda was really the favorite when the heads-up play started, but finally, after 4 hours of effective play, the 23-year-old Scottish player David Vamplew triumphed and won the biggest live tournament ever organized in the UK.

Vamplew will take home the first prize of £900,000 while Juanda, the runner-up, will add £545,000 to his already very impressive winnings, totaling some $10.5 millions in his professional career.

Indeed his AK loss happened against Deeb’s AQ pre-flop. The Qd came immediately on the flop and Deeb was saved. He took the chip lead thanks to this lucky hand and few hands later he was taking the trophy.

After winning, Freddy Deeb admitted that his opponent played a great game and that he got really lucky to triumph at this tournament.

Mizzi of course felt disapointed not to bring the title home, though overall 2010 has seen spectacular results for this Canadian. More cash baby !

Freddy Deeb leaves Paris with €290,000 more in his pocket while the runner-up received a €120,000 check for his performance.
