After three days of poker action at the Aviation Club de France in Paris, Brosolo defeated Samir Choubani in heads-up play when his pair of sixes bettered Choubani’s K 8 on an unmatched board.

Choubani had been chipleader going into the final day of play but had to settle for second place, worth €62,500. Brosolo’s win was the biggest cashout of his career.

In December, Brosolo finished in 5th place at the EPT Prague €5,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event for a €35,000 prize.

The winners of the European Poker Awards will be announced at the Aviation Club as part of the festivities.
Yann Brosolo of Titan.fr finished in 11th place at the EPT Prague tournament for a prize of €35,000. He came close to making the final table only to be crippled when he was holding pocket aces.

Here are details of Yann’s incredible game play on Day 4.

Level 22 – Blinds 8,000/ 16,000 ante 2,000

A player raised to 20K in small blind and Yann Brosolo made the call from the big one.

The flop came 3♥ 6♦ 7♥ and the small blind made his continuation bet to 50K. Yann just called.

Both players checked the turn, the 6♦, and on the river, the 8♥, the small blind check-called the 100K bet of our French Titan player.

Yann showed K♥ 7♠ and his opponent mucked his cards.

Yann Brosolo was up to over 1 million chips for the first time of the tournament when the average was under 800K.

After one hour of game play on Day 4, 25 players were left and the average was 866K. Yann had 900K.

Level 23 – Blinds 10,000/ 20,000 ante 3,000

Yann Brosolo was card dead during this entire level and just succeeded to not lose too much. He finished it with 750K for an average of 1.2 million chips and 18 players left.

Then things began to run much better for Yann Brosolo.

In Level 24 with blinds 12,000/ 24,000 ante 3,000, Chris Moorman raised to 51K and Yann 3-bet him to 137K and obtained the fold of the English online star.

Yann Brosolo 3-bet twice in a row pre-flop and at the middle of the level, he was up to 900K with 17 players left with an average stack of 1,274,000.

We were quickly down to 16 players and 2 tables and after a lot of pots won pre-flop, Yann Brosolo was back to 1 million with 15 players left and an average of 1.4 million chips.

Level 25 – Blinds 15,000/ 30,000 ante 4,000

Yann eliminated Chris Moorman at the beginning of the level. He raised to 65K UTG and Moorman shoved for 365K. Yann called and it was a coin flip situation.

Moorman held K♥ Q♥

The final board was: 10♦ J♦ J♥ 5♠ 2♣

Then Yann won another nice pot against Danish player Mads Wissing.

Wissing raised under the gun to 50K and Yann called in big blind with 9♥ 9♣

The flop came K♥ K♠ 9♦ and both players checked.

The 10♥ fell on the turn and Yann Brosolo fired a 40K bet. Wissing quickly called.

On the river, the Q♦, Yann checked, Wissing bet 125K and Yann 3-bet to 335K. The Danish player considered what to do for a long time and finally folded.

Yann was up to 1.5 million chips and kept increasing his stack thanks to his aggressive play. Yann made a nice profit of 300K off a Dutch player 5-betting all-in pre-flop. Yann finally reached the average chip stack when there were but 12 players left in the tournament.

A few minutes later, Yann Brosolo raised to 65K UTG and the small blind made the call.

Flop: 4♥ 2♥ 6♥

The small blind player check-called the 80K bet of Yann.

The two men checked on the turn, the 3♠. On the river, 3♣, the small blind check-called 175K and mucked his cards when Yann revealed the winning hand, Q♥ Q♠

Yann Brosolo stole the blinds and at the end of the level he was sitting behind a 2.4 million stack.

11 players were left and the average was just below 2 millions chips.

Level 24 – Blinds 20,000/ 40,000 ante 5,000 – Yann Brosolo is eliminated, victim of a terrible bad beat.

Yann Brosolo opened to 80K in middle position. Dutch player David Boyaciyan 3-bet to 210K. Yann decided to 4-bet to 450K and Boyaciyan made a big mistake moving all-in. Yann snap-called with pocket ACES and was in the prefect situtation to take the lead of the tournament with 11 players left.

Boyaciyan held pocket 9.

The dealer delivered the worst cards possible for our French Titan pro player: K-9-5-10-7

Yann had a little bit more than his opponent but was crippled after this awful bad beat.

The next hand, Yann Brosolo moved all-in with A 7 pre-flop and Wissing made the call with K-10.

A ten fell on the flop and Yann Brosolo was eliminated and left the poker area, knocked out of the tournament.

Yann Brosolo finished in 11th position for a prize of €35,000.

We were all really disappointed for Yann Brosolo who was so close to reaching the final table. Congratulations to him for this great tournament here in Prague.

135 players came back at the start of Day 3 of the EPT PokerStars.com Prague tournament and Yann Brosolo of Titan.fr was one of them. He had huge hopes to achieve a good finish.

Level 15 – 1,500/3,000 ante 400 – A wonderful level for Yann Brosolo

American Calvin Anderson raised to 6.8K at the cut-off and Yann Brosolo from Team Titan called from the big blind.

Yann check-called 6.6K on the flop 2♥ 7♥ 3♦

Both players checked the turn, the K♠ and Yann donk-bet the river 3♠ to 18K and was paid by Anderson.

Yann showed K♥ Q♥ and won the pot.

A few hands later, the hi-jack raised to 6.3K and the cut-off 3-bet to 16.1K. Yann decided to 4-bet to 37.2K and obtained two quick folds.

Yann was up to 225K for an average of 173K.

Yann put a lot of pressure on his opponents hand after hand. Yann raised to 6.8K in middle position and paid the re-raise of the small blind to 18K.

Flop: K♥ 5♥ 7♠
The small blind bet 18K and Yann called.

The two men decided to check the turn, the 3♣, but after a check of the small blind on the river, the 10♥, Yann bet 44K and won the hand to climb to 264K.

A few minutes before the first break of the day, Yann Brosolo eliminated a player in a monster pot but lost a big one.

First Lodden raised to 6.8K in early position. The small blind called and Yann completed from the big blind.

The flop came K♥ 7♥ 3♣. The small blind and Yann checked, Lodden bet 9.8K and the small blind just called. Yann Brosolo took a minute before 3-betting to 35K. Lodden gave up at that stage but the small blind called.

The turn was the 8♦ and the small blind check-called the 50K bet from Yann.

On the river, the 9♠, the small blind checked again and Yann Brosolo moved all-in. His opponent snap-called and showed pocket 3s for a set but Yann held the winning hand with pocket 7s for a higher set. Yann Brosolo was over 500K.

On the last hand of the level, Yann Brosolo bet 7K in late position and the player in big blind raised to 20K with 120K behind. Yann called to see the flop 9♥ J♠ 5♥

The small blind opened to 19K and Yann pushed a tower of 5K chips putting his opponent all-in. The player called and we had a showdown.

Yann: K♥ 8♥
Small blind: K♦ K♠

Yann needed a heart but unfortunately the dealer delivered the 9♦ on the turn and the Q♣ on the river.

Yann Brosolo finished the level with 355K while the average was 185K for 117 players left.

With 104 paid players in the tournament, Yann began to believe that he would achieve a good performance in this tournament.

Level 16 – Blinds 2,000/ 4,000 ante 500

Yann Brosolo succeeded to enter the money with the same stack (350K) after one hour of patient play.

At the end of the level, 104 players were left for an average of 210K.

During the next level, Yann Brosolo lost a few small pots and was card dead. He finished the level with a little bit more than 300K.

Level 18 at blinds 3,000/ 6,000 ante 500, Yann Brosolo back in action

He raised to 12K UTG +1 and found two callers, one in middle position and the big blind.

On the flop J♦ 5♠ 10♠, the big blind & Yann checked and the third player bet 25K. The big blind gave up but Yann went all-in, widely covering his opponent. The player called him and we had a showdown.

Yann Brosolo: K♠ 9♠
Big blind: A♦ J♣

The turn came a 9♥ which was not good for our Titan pro player but the 7♠ fell on the river to give the flush to Yann who increased his stack of 130K.

He was up to 430K for an average of 349K and 62 players left.

Then he 3-bet a tight player and added 20K to his stack before giving up 30K.

Yann Brosolo

Level 19 – Blinds 4,000/ 8,000 ante 1,000

Yann Brosolo had 455K in front of him while the average showed 433K for 50 players left in the tournament.

A young aggressive player raised to 17K UTG +1 and Yann Brosolo called in big blind position.

Both players checked the next flop: Q♠ 7♠ 4♥

On the turn, the 4♣, Yann check-raised to 56K his young opponent who had bet 22K and this player finally made the call.

On the river, 3♥, the two players decided to check. Yann Brosolo showed K♥ Q♥ and it was good enough to win the pot and he was up to 530K.

Just before going to the dinner break, Yann Brosolo lost 60K and was down to 389K with 45 players left. Average stack: 481K.

Level 20 – Blinds 5,000/ 10,000 ante 1,000 – Yann Brosolo runs over his table

Yann Brosolo raised, 3-bet or 4-bet every hand to be back at the average stack of 528K when 41 players were left.

Level 21 – Blinds 6,000/ 12,000 ante 1,000

Yann Brosolo changed tables and continued to raise and 3-bet. A player moved all-in in early position for a total of 130K. Yann Brosolo called in late position with pocket 10s. He was a huge favorite against the pocket 3s of his opponent.

The final board was: Q-7-2-K-2 and Yann was in really good shape with more than 717K.

Then Yann raised with K J suited from the button and the last woman remaining in the tournament decided to make it more expensive 3-betting to 100K. Yann moved all-in and the result was simple and efficient: FOLD.

Finally, Yann made a move against his French compatriot Jean-Philippe Rohr. A Czech player, Dorbek, raised UTG to 24K. Jean-Philippe Rohr 3-bet to 65K and Brosolo 4-bet one more time. The new price to pay was 112K. His two opponents folded and Yann showed pocket Kings.

Day 3 was over with 31 players left for an average 698K. Yann Brosolo is in good position to start Day 4 with a confortable stack of 828K.

Habib raised to 1,800 under the gun +1 and Yann made it 4.4K. Jorgensen moved all-in for 19.4 K total. Habib folded and Yann called with the best hand of poker, pocket Aces. Jorgensen held J♥ J♣.

Jorgensen hit a the J♦ on the flop and Brosolo dropped to 99K instead of 140K. Yann finished the level with 94K.

Christophe Benzimra lost 10K during the first 75 minutes of play on Day 2. He played few hands but had to give up on many in order to keep a chance to come back in the game in case of double-up.

He ended Level 9 with 28K. The average was 61,709 with 351 players left.

Level 10 – Blinds 500/1,000 ante 100

Christophe Benzimra changed table and joined a difficult one with Martins Adenya and William Thorson. Everybody folded until the button who raised to 2.2K. The small blind folded and Christophe completed from big blind position.

Christophe Benzimra, first to act, checked the flop 9♦ 9♠ 4♠ and the button bet 2.9K. Christophe 3-bet to 7.8K and his opponent moved all-in. Call from Christophe who showed 9♥ 8♥. His opponent held two spades and needed one more to win.

But it didn’t occur and Christophe Benzimra doubled up to 56K.

At the same time Brosolo was involved in a hand. The board was already showing: 4♠ 2♣ K♣ K♦.

Yann Brosolo bet 6.7K and his direct neighbor called.

The river fell 9♦.

Yann Brosolo checked and folded after the 10K bet of his opponent. He was down to 80K after this hand.

Christophe Benzimra raised to 2.3K in middle position and a young German player 3-bet to 6.3K. Call from our French Titan player.

Flop: Q♠ 10♥ 3♦

Christophe check-called the bet of the German player of 5.4K.

Then both players checked the turn and the river, 8♠ and 8♣, so we had a showdown. Christophe with 9♥ 9♦ won the pot against K♠ 9♠.

Christophe Benzimra and Yann Brosolo completed the level with respectively 71.8 and 73.7K for an average of 77K and 281 players left.

Level 11 – Blinds 600/1,200 ante 200

On a flop J♠ 8♣ 7♥ the big blind check-called the 8.5K bet of Brosolo in hijack position.

Turn: 7♦

Check-check.

Same action on the river, the 9♣.

The big blind showed 9♠ 8♠ and took the pot down. Yann Brosolo was down to 60K.

Yann Brosolo finished the level very well (104K) as a result of the next hand. Our French Titan player raised to 2.5K in late position and the big blind player paid to see the flop.

The flop came K-2-3 and the big blind donk bet to 3.5K. Yann Brosolo took his time before 3-betting to 9.5K. The big blind paid.

On the turn, 3, Yann called a new barrel from his opponent for 12K.

Finally the big blind checked on the river, a jack, and Brosolo bet 19K. His opponent called and mucked when he saw Yann’s A K.

Christophe Benzimra finished the level with 64K. The average was 91,779 for 236 players left in the tournament.

Level 12 – Blinds 800/1,600 ante 200

Christophe Benzimra didn’t play a hand during three rounds of table and lost 12K, dropping to 50K.

Then a really active player at his table raised one more time in early position to 4.4K and was paid by the hi-jack player. Christophe Benzimra squeezed to 13.5K with 6♠ 9♠.

The action came back to the German player who decided to raise to 28.5K and obtained the fold of the hi-jack and Christophe who was down to 35.6K.

It was on the last hand of the level that Christophe Benzimra busted out. The same German player raised to 4.4K UTG. Martins Adeniya called in middle position and Christophe discovered A♣ J♦ at the button and shoved for 32.4K. After a minute of hesitation, the German made the call while Adeniya folded.

It was a coin flip as Christophe’s opponent was holding 8♠ 8♣.

Christophe Benzimra was hoping a Ace or a Jack to double-up but the dealer dealt the following board: 9-4-4-10-9. Christophe hit the rail.

Yann Brosolo's stack

During this level Yann Brosolo first won a big pot pre-flop with Queens versus Kings. He got lucky and hit a Queen on the turn and added 70K to his stack to reach 180K.

After that one, Yann Brosolo grinded a lot of pots without showdowns to climb to around 220K.

Yann Brosolo called a 3-bet to for 8.5K with Q J.

The flop came 9-10-2 with two hearts. Yann Brosolo check-called 10.5K.

Both players checked on the turn, 2.

The river is the 4♥ and Yann called 20K.

His opponent showed A♥K♥ for the nut flush and Yann Brosolo was back to 180K.

Level 13 – Blinds 1,000/ 2,000 ante 300

Yann Brosolo eliminated a short-stacked player. His opponent went all-in for 15K with K-10 and Yann called with pocket 10s and won the hand to rise to 195K.

Yann dropped once again to 180K after a 5-bet shove pre-flop from a tight opponent.

Yann Brosolo decided to play really tight, keeping control of his cards in order to ensure that he would advance to Day 3 of the tournament. So his stack went down to 160K before playing the penultimate hand of the day.
He raised to 5.5K under the gun and 5 players made the call.

On a J-3-2 flop Yann bet 13K and obtained the fold of all his opponents to finish the day with 182,100 chips for an average of 160K.

Team Titan’s French poker pro Christophe Benzimra finished in 34th place at the prestigious WPT Grand Prix de Paris, staged at the famous Aviation Club de France on the Champs-Elysées in Paris.

His prize was €11,110. Team Titan’s Marvin Rettenmaier was chipleader during an early stage of the tournament but did not finish in the money.

312 players paid the €7,500 buy-in to participate in the prestigious WPT Grand Prix de Paris Main Event. Marvin Rettenmaier and Yann Brosolo from Team Titan didn’t finish in the money even though Rettenmaier started the tournament very well finishing Day 1B among the chipleaders. He was also leading the field for a good part of Day 2.

Marvin declared after his elimination: “I reached the point of the tournament where you need to win some flips to be able to play for the win. Unfortunately, I lost these crucial flips so I am logically (but unfortunately) out. But next time will be mine ”

Other poker stars were in Paris to try to take down the title of WPT champion, among them Jason Mercier, Juha Helppi, Martin Jacobson, Freddy Deeb, Davidi Kitaï, Sorel Mizzi, Arnaud Mattern, Antoine Saout and Anton Makiievski (November Nine).

Christophe Benzimra, who won the EPT Warsow in 2009 showed a good result after 3 days of a high level fight. Unfortunately the French pro from Team Titan had to leave the tournament when his pocket Queens was beaten by Russian Dimitry Stelmak’s pocket Kings. Stelmak eventually finished 8th in the tournament and won €66,665,

On the fourth starting day of the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event, 2,802 players took their seats, lifting the total number of starters to 6,865. This is down from last year, but still makes this year’s Main Event the third largest ever. Total prize money is about $64.5 million, with the winner to receive about $8.77 million.

Among the starters today we followed five Titan Poker players. The two French pros Christophe Benzimra and Yann Brosolo and three online qualifiers, German Alexander Debus and Hungarians Miklos Zsuffa and Andras Balogh, were among the players beginning action on Day 1d.

Level 1 – 50/100

Christophe Benzimra from Team Titan played 4 hands in the first hour and lost all of them. He was down to 27 K . “I didn’t connect a flop until now”. He finished the first level with 28K and told us during the first break “I would like to receive some good cards to play just a few hands but it has not been the case until now”.

Yann Brosolo was more active at his table and lost a few hands at the beginning of the day.

Then a player raised to 250 in early position and two players made the call. Yann Brosolo paid from the small blind with 4♦ 4♥

Flop: J♦ 4♠ 3♠
Yann opened to 700 and the original raiser paid.

Turn: 8♦ and Yann bet 2,025 and was called.
On the river: 8♣ Yann bet 5,050 and his opponent called and mucked when he saw the set of the Frenchman who climbed to 35K.

Yann Brosolo

Yann Brosolo 3-bet to 700 preflop with A8 and was called by the big blind player.
Flop: J♣ 7♦ 2♣
Big blind check-called the 800 from Brosolo.

Turn :9♥
Another check-call from the big blind but for 1,500 this time.

River :A♥
Last check from the big blind and Brosolo fired a last 3K bet. After two minutes of hesitation Brosolo’s opponent folded. Brosolo was up to 43K after 45 minutes of the first level.

Then the Parisian player climbed to 50K thanks to a flopped top straight with AK. His opponent had paid 2 bets before folding on the river.

But just before the break, Brosolo lost two signifcant pots. The first with pocket fives versus pocket eights to his adversary. The flop came: 8♠ 5♦ 4♣ and Brosolo limited the damages losing “only” 15K.

The second one, Yann Brosolo lost with Aces against Q9 while the flop fell Q-5-Q

Brosolo completed the level with 25K in chips.

One of the Titan Poker online qualifiers, Alexander Debus from Germany, who finished second at the tournament The One in Monaco in April 2011 for a pay check of €170 000, also started play on Day 1d and finished the first level with a healthy 42.5K.

“I didn’t play a lot of hands during these two hours but I flopped a set against my opponent’s pocket aces”.

Two other qualifiers from Hungary were also among the starters today, Miklos Zsuffa and Andras Balogh. They ended the 1st level with respectively 33 and 30K.

Christophe Benzimra

Level 2 – Blinds 100/200

Christophe Benzimra didn’t touch good cards and had just the goal of maintaining his stack at a reasonable level in order to find a good spot to double-up before the end of the day.

For example, he raised to 550 with A♦ 10♣ and a player who just arrived at the Frenchman’s table defended his big blind.

Flop: A♦ 6♠ 4♥
Both players checked.

Turn: Q♣
The big blind opened to 700 and Christophe called.

And on the river, Q♥ the big blind checked and Christophe Benzimra bet 1,200. It was enough to bring his adversary to fold.

Later in the level, Benzimra 3-bet with a pocket nines and obtained a fold.

He finished his level with 29K.

Yann Brosolo grinded for an hour and a half in Level 2. “I am just grinding…no showdowns. I even won a pot 3-betting the button from big blind and making 3-barrels without looking at my cards. I only played my opponent and he folded on the river”.

“I also folded Queens pre-flop after a raise in early position and a re-raise from a really tight player”.

Then Yann Brosolo raised to 450 in late poisition with J♦ J♥ . The button 3-bet to 1,200 and the big blind 4-bet to 4K.
Yann decided to make it more expensive and firmly said “Raise 8.2K !”. Both opponents folded and the French player of Team Titan was up to 36.5K when the second break was announced.

Andras Balogh

Miklos Szuffa continued to increase his stack slowly to reach 37K after 4 hours of play. “I just won small pots. No big hands for me”.

Andras Balogh is at 32K.

Level 3 – Blinds 150/300

After 2 hours in this third level, Christophe Benzimra had 30K.

Miklos Zsuffa climbed to 53K. With KQ♠ JQ♥ he raised pre-flop and one opponent made the call. Miklos found a flush draw on the turn and check-called a first bet. He found the AQ♠ on the river which brought him the nut flush and he succeeded in extracting a little bit more from his opponent.

Meanwhile, Andras Balogh flopped a set of kings and took a nice 20K pot to reach 44K.

A few minutes later, French player Maxime Masquelier raised to 1,050 in middle position. Andreas paid and the two men went to see the flop: Q♥ 7♦ J♦

Masquelier bet 2 050 and Andreas flat-called.

Turn: 10♠. Masquelier check-called the 4K bet from Andras and both players checked on the river. The french player instantly turned over AQ but Andras showed the winning hand J♥ J♠ and was sitting behind a 51K stack.

Just before the break, Dag Palovic from Slovakia bet 1.6K and Andras Balogh called at the button with pocket 4s.

Flop: 2♣ 4♥ 2♠
Dag Palovic bet 1.4K, Andras raised to 3.4K and the Slovakian pro made the call.

Turn: 7♥
Check-call 5K from Palovic.

River: 9♥
New check-call from Palovic for 4K. “I made a small bet on the river to be sure to be paid and he did. But he mucked his cards so I don’t know what he had on that hand”.

Andras Balogh was up to 70K.

Unfortunately, Yann Brosolo was eliminated of the tournament in the middle of the level. All his chips (around 40K) went in the middle preflop with KK against the AK of his opponent.

The board was really cruel for the French player: J-10-9-6-Q for a straight hit on the river.

“How can he (almost) play his tournament life with this hand preflop…That’s sick !” exclaimed Yann leaving the table, the poker room and the Rio.

Alexander Debbus took down 3 small pots without showdown to go to enjoy his 90-minutes dinner break with 45K.

Level 4 – 150/300 ante 25

After the dinner-break the things went more quietly for Titan Poker players until the last minutes of the level.

Debus finally found a good spot to put all his chips in the middle.

The German player went all-in for around 28K with JJ versus AK to his opponent after several raises and reraises.

The flop was not in favor of the Titan Poker qualifier: A-2-2

The turn didn’t help more when an 8 came but a miraculous J saved him and permitted him to double up and reach 60K.

Miklos Zsuffa

Miklos Szuffa lost a big part of his stack on a single hand. He raised at the button to 800 with A♠ Q♠ and a very good player 3-bet him to 2,100. The Hungarian player made the call.

Flop: 9♠ 5♠ 4♥
The small blind made his contination-bet for 2,300 and Szuffa paid it.

On the turn, 3♠, the small blind check-called 4.5K.

And he did the same at the river, the A♣ for 6K.

Szuffa was sure to value-bet on the river with his hand against that player in particular. But our Titan Poker qualifier was wrong and lost his pot when he discovered the 2♣ 5♠

Miklos Szuffa was down to 35K after this hand.

Christophe Benzimra finished the level with 28K and was tired of folding and folding, over and over.

Andras Balogh completed the level with 61K.
Level 5 – Blinds 200/400 ante 50

Alexander Debus limped at the cut-off and the big blind raised to 1,650. The German player paid. On a flop 3-6-8 with two clubs, the big blind opened to 3,550 and Debus gave up and was down to 54.5K.

Three hands later, the table was broken up and Alexander Debus joined the young Andrew Chen who has won more than $1.7 million in his career. Debus finished Day 1d with a nice stack of 57,700 chips.

During the last level, Christophe Benzimra became a mit more aggressive and increased his stack to 25K. Christophe found his first big pair of the day, a beautiful pair of aces and raised in middle position. Both players in the blinds called and the flop came 5-5-9.

The French Titan player decided to really control the pot and he did well as the big blind was holding J-5 for a flopped set. He was back to 31.5 K.

Christophe Benzimra finally won 2 pots in the last hands and completed Day 1d with 36,375. “I am really happy to advance to Day 2 after this terrific day. I suffered a lot for every chip I won. A real nightmare today”. The nightmare is over for tonight and Christophe will be back playing Day 2b.

We will also see Miklos Szuffa in Day 2b but with a short stack of 13,950 chips. Other players who advance are Andras Balogh with 65K and Alexander Debus with 57.7K.

Four members of Team Titan participated in the action of this prestige World Series of Poker event at the Rio in Las Vegas. Team players were Frenchmen Christophe Benzimra and Yann Brosolo, English player Sam Trickett and German player Marvin Rettenmaier.

Event #50 was a Triple Chance tournament, in which each player received 5,000 chips and two Rebuy chips of 5,000 chips each which could be used whenever they wanted during the first four hours. In total, each player had at his disposal 15,000 chips.

A total of 817 players paid the buy-in to participate to this event.

It took a long time for Christophe Benzimra, Sam Trickett and Yann Brosolo to register before taking their seats in the Pavillon Room of the Rio and they joined their tables at the beginning of Level 2. Marvin decided to enter in this event a little bit later. “After all these events, I wasn’t feeling well at the tables yesterday, so I decided to sleep as much as possible before coming,” he said.

Level 2 and 3 – Blinds 50/100 and 75/150:

The player under the gun (UTG) raised to 250 and the Italian November Nine 2010 player Filipo Candio called as did Yann Brosolo in late position with A♠ Q♠

Flop: 10♠ 8♠ 2♥
UTG player opened to 650, Filipo Candio gave up and Yann Brosolo made the call.

Turn: 7♦
UTG player check-called the bet of our French member of Team Titan for 950.

The river came 9♠ giving the nuts to Yann Brosolo. UTG player checked and Yann value-bet 2,300 and his opponent made the call and mucked his hand when Yann showed his hand.

Yann was up to 20K.

Christophe Benzimra was at 15K at the end of the level. He received Aces twice but didn’t have the chance to see any action at the table and “stole’ the blinds.

Sam finished the level with 13K.

Sam Trickett

Level 4 – Blinds 100/200
During this level, Sam climbed to 25K but we had no details about how. Indeed, the English player changed tables and in the middle of this crowded field it took us a long time to find him back at his new corner where he joined Barry Shulman and French player Mario Cordero.

Sam Trickett did a hard fold; on a flop 8♦ Q♦ 6♥ Sam opened to 1K and the hi-jack player made the call. The small player who was involved in this hand preflop folded.

Turn: Q♥
Sam check-called the 1,625 of his opponent.

And on the river, the 5♠ his opponent took a quite long time before sending all his chips in the middle for a little bit more of 11K. Sam Trickett thought for about 5 minutes before folding his pocket 10s. “His river bet didn’t make sense so I really hesitated to call. But I don’t know this player so it was a hard decision,” Sam said.

Yann Brosolo was down to 6K at the end of this level:

A French player min-raised UTG to 400 and Filipo Candio made the call in middle position. Yann Brosolo, in big blind 3-bet to 1,200 with A♠ 10♠ and Candio decided to call.

Flop: 8-8-2
Brosolo attacked to 1,400 and the Italian paid.

Turn: 8
Brosolo sent a new barrel for 2,600 and Candio hesitated for a while before calling.

Finally, a 2 fell on the river and Yann Brosolo decided to continue bluffing, going all-in for 6K. The response from Candio was easy. “I call” he said with a large smile and turned an 8 for a quad.

Yann Brosolo changed his 2 rebuy chips (10K) to continue to play.

A few hands before the end of the level and the 20-minutes break, Yann raised to 400 at the cut-off with A♣ K♦ The button made it more expensive and 3-bet to 1,100. Yann Brosolo 4-bet to 2,400 and his opponent paid quite quickly.

Flop :10♣ 8♦ 7♥
Yann Brosolo bet 2,600 and his opponent immediately moved all-in causing the French player from Team Titan to fold.

Sam Trickett was back to 15K at the break after he had lost an unavoidable coin-flip.

Christophe Benzimra lost a preflop all-in against a short stack QQ versus 66. His opponent made a lucky straight. “This one was hard. How to make chips when i don’t win a 80/20 ? Hope to be a little bit more lucky now”.

Christophe Benzimra

At the end of the level, Christophe called the UTG player’s raise of 600 from the small blind. The big blind also paid.

Flop: 6♥ 3♠ 8♣
Christophe and the big blind checked. UTG player, who is a really tight player, made his continuation-bet to 600 and Christophe 3-bet to 1 800. The big blind fold and the UTG player shoved.
Christophe made immediately the call showing 8♠ 6♠ for two pairs when his opponent turned A♠ A♥

Turn: 10♣ and river: 4♦

Christophe Benzimra is back to 15K at the end of the level.

Marvin was down to 11K at his table. “I just paid the blinds. I saw few flops but it was not good for me so i gave up”.

Level 6 – Blinds 150/300 ante 25 – Fatal level for Team Titan

A player in early poition raised to 700 and Yann Brosolo moved all-in for 4.9K. Everybody folded until the initial raiser who made the call.

Yann was behind with AJ against the AQ of his opponent.

Board: 4-5-7-10-5
No Jack to save the French player.

At almost the same time, Christophe Benzimra and Marvin Rettemaier were eliminated as well.

After a raise of 1300 and a call, Christophe Benzimra moved all-in and the initial raiser snap-called.

Christophe: A♦ K♦
Opponent: Q♦ Q♣

The board fell A♠ Q♠ 3♠ 8♠ 5♦ and it is all over for Christophe in Event #50.

Marvin Rettenmaier lost a coin flip as well for a 15K pot and quit the tournament.

Marvin and Christophe both commented in the same way. They never succeeded to increase their stacks. Even if they played seriously and quite tight, they couldn’t defend their opportunities. No good cards and no way to connect flops.

Marvin declared: “That’s the game but it is really frustrating for us to spend a day like we did.”

It’s Day 1B of the EPT Pokerstars.com Deauville event and Team Titan players go into action.

Yann Brosolo and Florian Desgouttes had some problems registering and finally reached the poker room where 472 players took their seats for the second day of qualification.. The two members of the team joined their tables about two hours after the gameplay began.

During this time the Belgian player of Team Titan Joël Benzinou was sitting at table 2.

Level 1 – Blinds 50-100:

A french player limped and Joël Benzinou raised to 350 with 10-10. The small blind and the the limper paid.

Flop: 10-10-5

Joël Benzinou flopped the dream with a quad of 10. The three players involved in the hand checked.

Turn: 7
The small blind bet 750. The limper and Joël Benzinou called.

River: 6
The small blind bet a second time, 1200 chips this time. The preflop limper called and Joël Benzinou raised to 3900.

His two opponents finally gave up the hand.

Joël Benzinou finished the first level with 36K.

During the second level at blinds 75/150, Joël Benzinou played a few small hands and folded them after seeing inadequate flops.

But just before the first break of the day, Joël Benzinou raised under the gun to 400. 3 players called and the small blind squeezed for 1850. Only Joël made the call.

Flop: A♥ Q♥ J♥

The small blind opened to 1500 and Joël flat-called.

Turn: 8♦

Joël Benzinou called the second barrel of his adversary for 2900.

And on the river, the magic card came for the Belgian pro from Team Titan to offer him the second quad of the day in less than two hours, the J♠

The small blind fired a third barrel for 2900. Joël took a while before raising to 8500 chips.

His opponent quickly called showing Q-Q and convinced he would win the hand with his full-house.

Joël took the pot and climbed to 50K after 2 hours and a 15-minute break.

Just before the break, Florian Desgouttes played two hands and climbed to 38 K.

Alain Roy bet 450 at the cut-off and Florian Desgouttes called in small blind with K♣J♦. The big blind completed and the 3 players saw the flop: J♣7♥3♣

Check from Florian and the big blind. Alain Roy made his continuation bet for 800 and Florian raised to 2250. The two opponents immediately folded.

Then in middle position, Florian Desgouttes raised to 450 in middle position with K♥Q♥. Three players made the call.

Flop: Q♣7♣5♠

The big blind checked, Florian c-bet to 1150 and 2 players called (an unknown player and Sam ElSayed, recent winner of WPT Amneville).

Turn: 3♦

Florian Desgouttes continued aggressively betting 2650. Sam ElSayed called and the other player gave up.

Both players checked when the As appeared on the river.

Sam ElSayed showed Q-J which was not enough. Florian Desgouttes took the chips and had 38 K at the break.

Level 3: Blinds 100-200 – Yann Brosolo is eliminated of the tournament.

It is such a deception for Yann Brosolo who really wanted to do well in this French step of the EPT circuit but he had really no luck as we can see.

A French man bet 500 at the cut-off. Yann raised him to 1400 from the button with Q-Q and get called by his opponent.

Flop 8♠8♥2♠

The cut-off bet 1400 and Yann just called.

Turn: 6♣

The cut-off player check-called the 2600 of Yann.

River: 2♥
The cut-off fired 3600 and Yann Brosolo paid and mucked his hand when he discovered the pocket Kings of his compatriot.

A few minutes later, Yann Brosolo raised to 500 from the button position with Q-10 and the big blind made the call.

Flop: 8♣ 9♥ 10♥
The big blind bet 700 and Yann paid.

Turn: A♥
Big blind check-called the 1100 bet from Yann.

And on the river, J♦, the big blind put 1100 in front of him which was called by the Team Titan member.

The big blind turned J♥9♥ and won the pot.
Yann Brosolo lost a coin flip to get eliminated of the EPT Deauville 2011. Yann Brosolo raised to 500 with A-K. An adversary reraised to 1700. Yann went all-in and went up against J-J

The flop J-J-9 is really crual for Yann Brosolo who is drawing dead and eliminated from the tourney. We will see him next time for the WPT in Paris from 9th to 15th of february. He left the poker room quite disappointed just after declaring: “In Paris, I will be at home, it will be different, I am sure”.

Yann Brosolo

Level 4: 150/300: Florian Desgouttes and Joël Benzinou in control

Both Team Titan pro players kept quiet waiting for good spots. Joël lost 6K with Aces and finished the level with 46 K. Florian Desgouttes had 36K when the second break of the day came.

Level 5 – 150/300 Ante 50: Joël Benzinou climbed to 60K, Florian Desgouttes still quiet.

French player Jérôme Zerbib bet 850 under the gun and Joël Benzinou called with K♣10♣ from the button.

The Belgian player hit another fantastic flop: 4♣5♣7♣

His opponent put 1200 in front of him and Joël Benzinou paid with pleasure.

Then came the 5♥ on the turn and the UTG player check-called the 2400 bet of Joël.

On the river, a blank, Joël paid the 5800 bet of Zerbib and won the pot.

He was up to 59K with an average at 36K.

No action for Florian Desgouttes during this level until the last hands. Bruno Fitoussi raised to 850 in early position and Alain Roy made it more expensive: 2200 total. Florian Desgouttes in late position made the call with A♣K♣

Flop: K♠ 10♥ 4♠
Bruno Fitoussi and Alain Roy checked. Desgouttes decided to bet 3700 and only Fitoussi called.

Both players checked on the river, the 4♦.

Fitoussi had a King but an inferior kicker and lost the pot. Florian reached the 60K just before changing of level and the increase of the blinds.

Level 6: 200/400 Ante 50 – Florian Desgouttes up to 86K, Joël Benzinou maintained his stack.

Middle of the level: Alain Roy raised to 1150 at the cut-off. The small blind completed and Florian Desgouttes as well in big blind position with 7♣ 9♣

Flop: J♣ 7♦ 3♣

The small blind and Florian checked. Alain Roy fired 2250. The small blind folded but Florian mad the call.

Turn: 4♦

Florian check-called the 5.2 K bet of the French pro Alain Roy.

River: 2♣
Florian decided to bet 12,5 K. Alain Roy hesitated a while before calling and mucking his hand. Florian Desgouttes is up to 84K.

Levels 7 and 8: Florian Desgouttes finished the day 2 in good position and Joël Benzinou has an average stack.

Joël didn’t play a lot of hands. He eliminated a short stack with pocket Queens versus pocket Tens and made some successfull 3-bets to maintain his position in the middle of the pack. He finished the day with 49 500 chips.

Florian Desgouttes increased his stack during the last level. With blinds at 400/800 Ante 75 a player in early position raised to 1950 and get called three times. Florian Desgouttes made the call as well with K♥Q♣

Flop: Q♦8♦2♥

Florian Desgouttes opened to 4200 and the initial raiser called this bet. Florian Desgouttes fired a 7750 bet and saw his opponent quickly folding. Florian Desgouttes finished the day with 96K.

The average is 50,800 chip sfor 279 survivors.

Yesterday noon saw the start of EPT Pokerstars.com Deauville, the French step of the European Poker Tour circuit in Deauville, France.

419 players took their seats in the poker room for Day 1A of this Main Event (Buy-in: €5,300) and amongst them, the young and talented German player of Team Titan, Marvin Rettenmaier.

The plan was for the players to play 8 levels of 60 minutes without dinner break. But unfortunately for Marvin, the day finished at the end of Level 3 at blinds 100/200.

At the beginning of the tournament, Marvin Rettenmaier observed his table and noticed that his neighbor on whom he had the position was a really weak and bad player. This man was playing almost every hand, limping, calling or raising preflop before checking in the dark. He was making big overbets, bluffs etc. and showing face-up his cards. The whole table tried to trap him and some of them succeeded quite well but unfortunately Marvin didn’t find a nice hand or spot against him to try to eliminate him and double up.

At the end of the first level, the German player was at the same point as one hour before, with 29K in chips.

Nothing really interesting happened during the second level at blinds 75/150 and Marvin Rettenmaier was down to 27K. Unfortunately after less than 3 hours playing, Marvin Rettenmaier busted out. The hijack player raised to 600 and the cut-off called. Marvin Rettenmaier made it more expensive; 2K in total. Both players called.

The flop came Q♦ Q♥ J♥

Check from the hijack, check from the cut-off. Marvin made his continuation-bet for 2400 but was raised to 5800 by the hijack. Fold from the cut-off player and call from Marvin.

Turn: 7♣

Rettenmaier’s opponent bet 11 K and Marvin moved all-in for 27K total.

Quick call from his adversary who turned over AQ which was a bit better than the Q9s of the Titan Team pro. Marvin was eliminated but not too disapointed.

“I have nothing to regret on this hand. It is an unavoidable situation. Next time will be better and now Ii will show support for my teammates”.

Indeed, today Team Titan pros Yann Brosolo, Florian Desgouttes (from France) and Joël Benzinou from Belgium are registrated for the day 1B which is on the verge of kicking off.
