Shuffle Up and Deal
All the players have registered, and it’s official: we have 126 players here in Valletta, who are going to play eight levels today.
A few words about the structure – Each player begins with 10,000 chips, first level of blinds is 25-50, and each level is 45 minutes.
David O’Neil, the excellent tournament director we previously encountered in Dublin, announced the “shuffle up and deal” a few minutes ago, and the only noise you can hear now in the poker room is the stressing clic-clic of thousands of chips…
During the first hands of the tournament, I heard the first “Oh, f***ing river!“, of the tournament and all other the nice words you can imagine declared after you’ve taken a 1,700 km flight, to bust at the very first hand of a tournament…
Unfortunately, I didn’t see the hand, but I can imagine A-A versus K-K, with a K on the river, or something like that. All the players who’ve been beaten badly at least once in their life (i.e. all players) should certainly appreciate this sentiment.
