The British players appear to be in top form in this 2010 WSOP tournament.  With two bracelets won by Praz Bansi (Event # 5: $1,500 NL Hold’em) and James Dempsey (Event #9:$1,500 Pot Limit Hold’em), another two English players were present at the final table of event #17 – $5,000 NL Hold’em.

Paul Foltyn finished in 8th position with $79,957, while  Team Titan’s Sam Trickett came in 2nd place with a significant sum of $505,725.

The American player Jason Dewitt took home the bracelet and $818,959 in winnings.  He started the heads-up as chip leader and eventually won after almost two hours of tough face-to-face competition.

Final Hand:

Dewitt and Trickett are all-in preflop. Trickett leads with A-7  against Dewitt’s 8-T.  Though trapped by Tricket, Dewitt’s two cards are alive.

Flop: 8 ♦ 6 ♠ 5 ♣

Dewitt hits the top pair and the Englishman lands a straight draw.

Unfortunately for the Team Titan player, didn’t hit one of his 11 outs.

Turn: 6 ♣
River: 5 ♥

Dewitt emerged as champion as Sam Trickett was forced to accept the “never satisfying” 2nd place.  All in all, Tricket’s performance was simply magnificent.

Well played and congratulations!
